it’s beautiful here too…

every superchunk album is amazing…really…all of them – i’ve listened to most of them over the course of the last week and it has proven what i already knew to be true…the timing was perfect since i just picked up a pair of tickets to see them at bowery ballroom in september…i’m very excited about this since i have yet to see them in a competent venue where the sound will be reliable…i was said to read recently that laura is no longer touring with the band due to hearing issues garnered from years of loud rock shows…but i’m certain they’ll put on a great show…

you can really start with any superchunk album…but my favorite is indoor living and my favorite superchunk song of all time is this one…

since my last post i have spent the majority of my time walking around paris and visiting a few new parks…my favorite so far was buttes chaumont in the 19th…the park is only a 20 minute walk from my apartment and a slight detour will land you at the mexican joint i mentioned in my last post…on sunday, i grabbed a veggie burrito, made way over to the park and had lunch…then i laid out in the park  on a day where the weather was perfect – blue skies with just enough cloud cover to keep the sun from being over bearing…

i finally got around to reading the full article in Time regarding people choosing not to have children…it was a nice read, though heavily focused on a woman’s perspective/choice to do this…this makes sense, obviously, but i thought it would have been interesting to hear from more men deciding to live child-free lives…

running in paris is very problematic because wherever you run you always end up running past something that looks like this…

the inside was filled with chocolate...

the inside was filled with chocolate…

i mean…am really supposed to pass something like this and NOT consume it?…it tasted exactly as you might imagine it to be…

bill is heading back to the states this week so we hung out a couple of times this weekend…on friday, we met up near the sentier metro stop and had dinner at a lovely little italian joint…we were both very hungry so we split a traditional veggie pizza and ordered some homemade pasta as well..we also killed this bottle of wine, and it was amazing…

yum...

yum…

we then proceeded to grab some gelato…

tiramisu, dark chocolate, and coffee...

tiramisu, dark chocolate, and coffee…

bill enjoyed south indian food so much he wanted to back one more time before leaving paris so we met up at saravana bhaven for dinner on sunday night…we were both starving and ordered a ton of food and a few beers…in addition to some vada and dosa, i was extra hungry, so i ordered some phoori…deep fried to perfection and the potato porial to go along side it wasn’t too shabby either…

phoori...

phoori…

sitting in parks has been very productive from a writing perspective…i’ve finished mostly writing four new songs and hope to double that before the end of this trip…it’s been nice to demo stuff on my phone and send them off to ron, marwan and chris to get feedback and ideas…they’ve been super helpful and it definitely feels good for the soul to be working on music again more seriously…

still thinking about education, as always, and new york state finally released the full data/results from last years standardized tests…i could care less about standardized tests, but i did find it interesting how much charter schools bombed on this thing…gary rubenstein did a nice job analyzing this and includes graphs to illustrate his points…another worthwhile read…
